CALL FOR JEWISH COMMUNITY HEROES NOMINATIONS

Jewish Heroes LinkThe second-annual Jewish Community Heroes campaign organized by The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) celebrates the selflessness and courage of those who put others before themselves. This is the Houston community’s opportunity to shine a national spotlight on our unsung heroes, whether their work impacts five people or 5,000.  Houston submitted over 26 nominees and over 1,000 Houstonians voted for their Hero.
Visit Houston's Heroes page.      Nominate your hero today!

      OPERATION EXODUS - 20th ANNIVERSARY

Operation Exodus LogoWhen Jewish families tried to escape the Soviet Union, they often fled with little more than a few dollars and a suitcase. They had nowhere to turn...nobody to help them.
So the Jewish Federations of North America, raised $1 billion to support
Operation Exodus, the rescue and resettlement of 1 million Soviet Jews from 1990 to 1997.

Today, those families are living in Israel and throughout North America. They’re our friends, our families, our neighbors.

Please visit our Operation Exodus page, which includes a timeline, historic photos, educational resources and remembrances from those involved in Operation Exodus and to read stories of lives changed.

Every day in our community a senior receives a hot meal, a child is educated and a struggling family is offered assistance. While these stories mostly go unseen and unheard, it is through the generosity of our donors that these people get the help they need.

        Profiles in Philanthropy
tells the stories of people in Houston just like you who saw a need and decided to do something about it. People who helped strengthen the Jewish community, locally and globally.
